Anise or Fennel Bread Recipe
Ingredients -
  • 400 g pastry flour
  • Anise or fennel seeds
  • 2 packets of yeast
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • Water
  • A pinch of salt
  • Flavors of Nice -
  • Total time: more than 2 hours
  • Preheat oven at 250°C. (500°F.)
  • Preparation time: 10 minutes
  • Rising time: 3 hours
  • Baking time: 30 minutes
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Method -
     
  • Combine the pastry flour with the water, yeast, baking powder and a pinch of salt until it forms a thick dough.
  •  
  • Knead the dough; when it starts to get smooth, gather it into a ball. Add a little more flour if necessary so that it doesn't stick to your fingers.
  •  
  • Flatten the dough with your hand, sprinkle the anise or fennel seeds over top and knead again.
  •  
  • Form into a ball once again and let rise 3 hours.
  •  
  • With a sharp knife, cut a criss-cross pattern onto the surface of the bread to facilitate baking.
  •  
  • Place in a very hot oven to bake for 30 minutes.
